This Sunday we will be gathering in the OHLC parking lot for drive-in style worship services.

WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DISTRIBUTE BULLETINS ON SITE (see below for details), SO YOU WILL NEED TO PRINT THIS BULLETIN BEFORE YOU COME: DRIVE IN WORSHIP BULLETIN_May_10_2020

When you arrive, tune your car radio to 98.7

FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY:

  • Please follow the directions of our parking lot “ushers”
  • Please remain in your vehicle at all times.
  • Please keep your windows closed.
  • No access to the church building is allowed.

ALSO:

  • Turn off all vehicle accessories (heat, lights, etc.) except the radio. This will save your battery!
  • Out of respect for our neighbors, please do not honk your horn.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM PASTOR SPENCER REGARDING DRIVE-IN WORSHIP

This morning, May 7, I received a memorandum from Governor Inslee with the criterion for the drive-in spiritual services allowance announced Friday, May 1. It requires that we make some adjustments to what we had planned.

The memorandum explicitly states: “No food, beverages, or other materials (whether for religious or secular purpose) may be distributed or collected before, after, or as part of the service.”

This means I cannot hand you a worship bulletin. It means I cannot hand you presealed communion elements.

I was not anticipating such restrictive criterion. The procedures we had planned were more careful than any Starbucks drive-through or retail curbside pick-up.

We will still have our drive-in services this Sunday, May 10, but you must print your bulletin ahead of time and bring it with you, and we will not be celebrating communion. After this Sunday we will reevaluate whether this worship format makes sense.

I am as frustrated and disappointed as many of you surely are. I have not been one to be quick to claim religious discrimination, but these rules prohibit religious communities from engaging in activities which are allowed in other sectors. I will be writing to our governor to express my concerns about this unfair treatment. In the meantime, however, I will abide by his memorandum, which can be found by clicking HERE.
