WoRSHIP AT OAK HARBOR LUTHERAN CHURCH

Worship is the most important thing we do at Oak Harbor Lutheran Church, for it is in worship that God comes to us through human voices and earthly elements to renew us in his gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation. We respond with our prayers and our praise.

Worship at Oak Harbor Lutheran follows the traditional pattern of Christian worship (the liturgy) accompanied by organ and/or piano. Our worship services are reverent, but warm. Structured, but Spirit-filled. Laughter is welcomed, as are tears.

Sermons are grounded in the appointed Scripture readings of the lectionary, proclaiming the Law as God’s will for our lives and the Gospel as the good news of what God has done for us in Christ.

The Lord’s Supper is celebrated every Sunday. We believe Jesus is truly present in, with, and under the bread and wine. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive the Lord’s Supper at Oak Harbor Lutheran.

If you are unfamiliar with liturgical worship, we have a detailed bulletin and projection screens which make it easy to follow along.

Children are welcome in worship. “Little Lutheran” bags are available in the narthex (entryway), and are full of Bible-themed activities for small children.

There is no dress code. On any given Sunday you will find suits and dresses as well as Hawaiian shirts and jeans. It is good to dress in a way that honors God and respects the holy significance of what we experience in worship as best you can, but whatever you’re wearing, we’ll just be glad you came.
