READ 2:16-23         What does this section tell us about human nature? God’s nature?

The phrase “…and the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD” keeps popping up again and again in this book (2:11, 3:7, 3:12, 4:1, 6:1, 10:6, 13:1). Why do you think this is?

READ 13:1-7           How are the circumstances of Samson’s birth similar to stories we’ve heard previously in the Old Testament? How are they similar to stories we hear in the New Testament?

READ 14:1-9           How many violations of the covenant (and his Nazrite vow) does Samson commit in this passage?

READ 15:9-13         How is Israel’s lack of faith evident in these verses?

READ 15:14-20       How is Samson’s faith evident in these verses?

READ 16:1-6           How does Samson’s lustful behavior reflect the language we heard in chapter 2?

READ 16:15-22       What might Samson’s hair represent in this part of the story?

READ 16:23-31       In what ways is Samson a “type of Christ” in this part of the story?

Beginning in Chapter 17, the phrase “In those days, when there was no king in Israel” starts popping up again and again (17:6, 18:1, 19:1, 21:25). What does this tell you?
