READINGS & DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

READ 1:1-10                     What challenges does Jeremiah face in his call to be prophet? What reassurances does God give him? What will the word of God given through Jeremiah accomplish?

 READ 7:1-15                     What lesson does God want Judah to learn from what happened at Shiloh (1 Samuel 4:3-11)? What false assumptions do the people of Judah have about the Temple?

 READ 17:1-10                   How is the sin of Judah described in this passage? How might the people of Judah come to receive blessings instead of curses? What is the “heart problem” of the human condition?

 READ 23:1-6                     Who is Jeremiah’s judgement directed towards here? What hope does Jeremiah point to?

 READ 31:31-34                 When in the worship service do we hear about the “new covenant”? What might it mean for God to write the law on our hearts? Where are some places we see this happening?
