READ 1:1-8                How were these Israelites chosen and trained for the king’s special service? What is conveyed by giving them new names? How is Daniel’s faithfulness to God evident even now?

READ 6:1-9                Why do you think David’s fellow officers were out to get him? What trap do they set for him? Are “religious tests” used today? In what ways is our faith countercultural like Daniel’s?

READ 6:10-18            Why was the king distressed about Daniel? How is the king now trapped too?

READ 6:19-28            What saved Daniel? What is the result? If you were Daniel, how would you have responded to the decree?

READ 7:1-14              How do these images in Daniel’s vision work in conveying information? Are they poetry? Factual reporting? A combination of both? What might the various images represent? What do you think this vision is trying to convey to Daniel?

READ 7:15-18            Who are the saints in verse 18? What can they look forward to? What might God be saying to us through Daniel?
